Media ethics, in short, is the fundamental line in which governs media practices; as in it is a body that collects rules and regulation that insures the work of media that will protect the public from the media; the media and the government; and vice versa.
In the aforementioned collection of ethical values, one of which highly champions the degree of 'political correctness' when it comes to the practice of Photojournalism as well as the article piece when it comes to death, depicting death, rape, or other violent and/or inhumane tragedies. ie: one media should not depict the name of a rape victim, they could use initials or aliases with the consent of the victim; another example would also be not to depict any gore pictures explicitly to the public.
Some journalists might disagree with this rule, because to them, the real gore and death should be depicted to procure emotional attraction and distress of the readers, so the readers will know and sympathize; yet in accordance with media ethics regarding this matter says otherwise.
One event in particular, one that is close to home, is the Merapi, Jogjakarta incident that took place in the 26th of October, 2010. Seputar Indonesia Television News Channel (SINDO, in short) depicted the victim of the incident; the scene depicts a gatekeeper, whom resides by the bowels of the Merapi Volcano, that refused to leave along with his family and neighbors in the area... or what's left of them, 70 percent burnt flesh, uncanny dusts that fell of a body.... you get the picture
Disgusted? Or Sympathy?

The uncivilized
I was on my way out the morning before; it was at about 8 am. As I drove out of my neighborhood, I noticed a lot of people walking on the street. They wore training outfits which indicated that this was a sports event. A so called "morning walk" I suppose. As I drove further I landed in a big traffic jam. I looked to my side and saw all these people walking on the street causing cars to move to the middle lane, to avoid any accidents. Then I noticed that there was a sidewalk right beside them...seriously? Why cause such trouble when all you need to do is walk where you are supposed to walk? It is so typical for indonesians to raise attention just because they're having an event and suddenly they want all the privilege for it; like walking on the street just because they're having their "morning walk". After a while the police came blowing on their whistles telling the walkers to move to the sidewalk. Finally, I thought. Yet, there were still people who did not obey the orders and nothing was done about it. Ck ck ck *shaking my head*

citizen journalism
Citizen journalism involves people without professional journalism training using the tools of modern technology and the global distribution of the Internet to create, augment or fact-check media on their own or in collaboration with others.
This is practically what you do:
1. You might write about a city council meeting on your blog or in an online forum.
2. You could fact-check a newspaper article from the mainstream media and point out factual errors or bias on your blog.
3. You might snap a digital photo of a newsworthy event happening in your town and post it online.
4. You might videotape a similar event and post it on a site such as Youtube

STEP UP 3D
So, I just watched the movie... well, aside from the super hottie Luke (Rick Malambri), I actually enjoyed this movie very much. The dance moves were awesome, especially with the 3D effect it felt like they were battle dancing against you right there in front of your face. Well, the movie is about a tight-knit-group of New York City street dancers. So, Luke (The one I fell head over heels for) and his crew including Natalie (Sharni Sevani) and Moose (Adam Sevani), team up to battle against the world's biggest hip hop dancers. Well, the dance routines are amazing and one thing you will learn about Dance in this movie is that it will change your life forever. Don't miss this one!

CAPITALISM STOLE INDONESIA'S VIRGINITY (PART II)
B. IGNORANCE: If you conduct a study and/or survey that contains political questioners, see what would happen. I went to an 'internationally' acclaimed Christian educational institution in a collegian level, and I asked around about Munir, and this is what they responded:
Mr. A answered: He's dead, right?
I asked back: How did he die?
Mr. A answered: He got shot, right?
I answered with another question, "Why did he get shot?"
Mr. A answered: He commented some things about the government
The more I ventured, the dumber the answers,
Mr. A answered: Well, he talked something about the government
Then, I trapped him with false facts,
I said, "I think it's got something to do with Soeharto's family."
Mr. A responded: Yeah, yeah, it's Tommy Soeharto.
.......... sad, eh?
It was even worse when I addressed the Obama's campaign, all they knew was that he had a childhood in Indonesia, THAT'S IT
Ignorance is capitalism's ideology, dumbing the nation by spoiling them of monetary values instead of humanistic values, therefore, the government can do anything they want, and its people won't have their saying, because they don't know and/or they don't even want to know what's going on, if you don't believe me, see what kinds of law that exist today, and how silly it is or how contradictory it is. Seeing the young generation getting progressively worse, I won't expect much in the years to come when our young takes the elder's places.
C.SHOWMANSHIP. This is the shirt that capitalism wears before going about its business. What matters is the looks, who's got the money, who's got the exterior qualities, and powerplay; almost like theater, but the theater is a mirror looking back at them. The problem is that the nation and its people look at themselves and acknowledge that the world is what they know and the world is revolving only for them. It's almost as if people of this nation are wearing glasses with mirrors on the inside. Showmanship can be seen when you see people hiding behind the 'religion shield' when they act upon certain things. Or when the 2009 campaign started, nobody offered a specific explanation or ideology that would bring comfort to our dark times, all they care is the complicated voting system, and billions of money wasted to make it seem that democracy is working, even though it is not. Showmanship makes of a window-dressed democracy, gift-wrapping capitalism and its ugliness with multiple labels of 'democracy' written all over.

CAPITALISM STOLE INDONESIA'S VIRGINITY
-When the funny red, green, blue, monopoly-looking papers were glamorized to the point that each persons are to put such things above everything else, even virtues, they become slaves to money. Never it was easy to put one's happiness above the money, for money itself has attained a certain power that grant human beings a short-term happiness. It's a wondrous invention, to put value on a piece of paper that devalues the meaning of life itself, by 'devaluing', I mean that the rights that one human being possessed has a value lesser than that is of money's. And this phenomena is what we call 'capitalism'.
-Let's take this aspect unto a great many things and fun examples to better understand this ideology that is often bypassed by the majority.
A. MALLS. The idea of malls is to keep you inside at all times and meaninglessly spend 6-10 hours a day in the weekends with a friend or a loved one. When you find yourself trapped in an addiction to become one with the mall, therefore you have become one of capitalism's favorite pet, 'mallrat'. Why would you spend that much time in an artificial environment? It's not even productive nor healthy. Take your chances in the outside world with carbon monoxide and second-hand smoking. By the way, for your information, being in an air-conditioned facility constantly without sun and questionable ventilation can kill you as well, SLOWLY...

The Annoying Orange Phenomenon
The Annoying Orange Phenomenon
If you're feeling annoyed, we have something that could annoy you even more:
Go to your friend, www.youtube.com, and search "annoying orange"
or
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6IeASZZf1c
and you could search for more; the wtilii (we tell it like it is) members are addicted to this
It's probably the most annoying thing ever uploaded into the internet, but, definitely the most entertaining thing out there, given its massive view count of 22 MILLION HITS and even to 30 MILLION HITS a video. It only shows an animated (minimal animation) orange talking (in an annoying way with an annoying laugh and voice, yet comical) to other similar characters, and how he annoys them to death. Amazing how creativity nowadays are just so... 'annoying'?

I'm Governmentally Sick of Traffic
6th of October, 2010, Wednesday; by noon, the skies were covered by a blight of water waiting to pour on the city of Jakarta and its surrounding areas. It is an usual event for Jakarta to experience heavy rain and flood, yet what was unusual about the 6th of October, 2010, was the UNBEARABLE traffic. We have posted this previously, yet this is how the government is reacting to it.
The problem was not the flood, the problem was the massive amount of vehicles and the social patterns of drivers. Imagine an intersection, flooded with vehicles on four sides of the crossroad, but also imagine the conundrum when all four sides are merging into one hive of vehicles (from public to private cars and... the motorcycles) in the middle of the intersection. No one is moving, everyone is barking at one car to the other, the traffic light’s count down seem to die down in function. Another unfortunate fact is that our beloved president and his cronies are one of the culprits. Everyday after office hours, the president would return to his abode in Cikeas, Bogor; causing a traffic halt; imagine the addition to the traffic on the 6th of October.
One sees plenty of government plated vehicles in the road violating multiple traffic laws, ie: running a red light, cutting off people illegally, etc. etc. The unspoken truth is their ignorance and underestimation of the traffic control, hence, no traffic. In addition, what the hell (excuse our french) are the police doing with all this??? They're not doing anything useful...
People in the city are suffering. From office employees to students:
“Its annoying to see 6 government official cars just holding off traffic, like I don’t have anything better to do, like they’re doing something important anyway! Isn’t it their job to serve us and guide us? What the f*ck?” said one of UNTAR Management student
“It took me 4 hours to get back to north Jakarta from South Jakarta, because the MPR building held off the traffic for the longest time, just because they’re ‘important”. said Intan, CIMB NIAGA bank Manager.

macet!!!
'The heaviest traffic of the century; when drivers on the road turns off their engines during traffic, and the combination of dark clouds pouring rains, you know this is going to be an unbearable journey. Teluk-Gong, Jembatan 3, Jembatan 2, Pluit, most of north Jakarta areas, flooded not only with water but flooded with vehicles with no where or an inch to move. Those with manual transmission would wish they had an automatic transmission car by now. Impatience shown by hammering the honk of the car over and over again without any results.Cars coming from all directions, no one is yielding; now its in the hands of the police to direct traffic properly, under the rain with their yellow lime coats

is a just-launched operation out of L.A. by Kelsey Stengle, and for us, it is love at first sight. The online store has boat-loads of pieces from some of our favorite designers for amazing prices.
We're talking Mink Pink, Motel, Obey, Insight, RVCA, Joyrich, BB Dakota, Wildfox Couture....you get the picture. And true story: While we were filling up our shopping carts we almost had milk coming out of our noses reading the titles of the Pretty Pennies blog (http://blog.prettypennies.com/) posts. Example: "The only thing stopping you is looking like an a**hole." You'll just have to see for yourself.
SUSAN BOYLE- A PORNSTAR???

SUSAN BOYLE- A PORNSTAR???
Homely British singing sensation Susan Boyle has been offered $1 million to make a porn flick.
Homely British singing sensation Susan Boyle has been offered $1 million to make a porn flick.
The plain Jane superstar with the spellbinding voice would have to lose her virginity on camera to earn the seven-figure payday from Los Angeles-based Kick Ass Films.
Boyle, who says she’s never been kissed let alone bedded, has taken the entire world by storm since she appeared on the American Idol-style TV show “Britain’s Got Talent.”
A Web clip of her singing a tune from the Broadway hit “Les Miserable’s,” has received 100 million hits worldwide, more than five times President Obama’s historic victory speech.
If Boyle accepts the offer, the porn company will fly her out to Tinsel town on – you guessed it – Virgin Airlines.
Fans will also get a chance to choose the title for the raunchy film. It’s unclear who might play the leading man.

All hail McQueen
When Alexander McQueen committed suicide this February, the fashion world stopped in its tracks. Makeshift memorials were set up outside his boutiques, magazines stopped their presses to make room for tribute essays, and candlelight vigils were organized, flash-mob style, on Facebook and Twitter.
Now Butter London has a more unusual tribute - a nail color devoted to McQueen and his uniquely madcap aesthetic. Called "All Hail McQueen," the shade is a ghostly gray infused with rough pinches of shimmer. It's a holographic nod to his last collection (a meditation on angels and birds) and also to one of his most famous runway stunts: Putting a holograph of Kate Moss directly on his catwalk.
Don't know what we're talking about? Click the video below. Just be careful - it's so beautiful, you might cry.
