"Is there anybody out there?" would've been the perfect opening song for the concert, due to the lacking of audience in the concert. Was it a success? Well, it's up to you to decide, as WE TELL IT LIKE IT IS.
In the weeks prior to the event of "the spirit of pink floyd," in Jakarta, 28th 2010, in Kempinski Hotel Indonesia, Grand Ballroom; posters were roaming all over the walls of Grand Indonesia, which was the main sponsor of the event, and the first thought that came into everyone's head was, "OH MY GOD, THEY'RE COMING!!!! WOW!" and the second thing everyone did was to pre-order the tickets. For those who utilized the internet, it was obvious that the band coming was not the legendary PINK FLOYD, but it was a tribute band from England; but others who did not do their research, were holding to the hopes that they would witness a monumental experience on stage with visual effects and a tall stage, with a mesmerizing performance by the legendary members (or what's left of them) of the actual band. On the contrary, they were absolutely, positively, 'dazed & confused' by the fact that the hopes of seeing the old and original members with white hair, and aged exteriors transformed into young men and women, replacing the 'hope'. Apparently, the fact was, it was a TRIBUTE show.
"Who are these guys?" asked one of the confused audience, old at age, sitting in the back row.
"Are these guys the original, they look so..... young?" another one of the confused audience muttered.
The journey, however, was quite intriguing:
1. Finding the parking spot was no picnic, as it was a Saturday night, and the parking was in a mall/hotel
2. Upon entering the premises, one has to go through a thorough security protocol
3. The waiting quarters was intimidating; crowded, hotel style design, it was visually expensive
4. Like any other event in Indonesia, the event was drastically delayed for an hour
5. The enactment of the event, however.....
inquiry:
- The show had 3 types of seatings or rather three pricing sets
- Silver: 300 thousand idr
- Gold: 600 thousand idr
- Platinum (VIP): 1 million idr
If the real Pink Floyd had shown up, the ticket would be twice or thrice as much
